“Give my wheelchair a push, I’m like a camera just ticking over”
“Give my wheelchair a push, I’m like a camera just ticking over” or simply ‘time slicer’ is an interactive digital installation highlighting the body and its movement through space/time. Through software written in Processing, a live video feed of the audience/participant is captured and projected as a series of ‘time slices’. Utilizing a camera, computer and projector the audience is presented with a heightened awareness of the body being in a constant state of flux. Participants are encouraged to experiment and play with the form and shape of their bodies whilst “travelling through time” in a kind of video-cubism.
The title comes from a quote by the great film maker Jean Renoir as he sat motionless in his hospice wheelchair.
